Flex Finance Academy
Our Workshops
Flex Finance Academy aims to increase financial literacy within the greater Bay Area community. We realize that there is an intense focus on STEM subjects in Silicon Valley. However, with this drive for academic success, many families often neglect the management of personal finances, focusing more intently on theoretical learning, rather than practical money management skills. We believe that finance is important in all career paths; if managed wrongly, even the biggest paycheck is still not enough to cover all the bills. Thus, we aim to change this through free, accessible online lessons, where we teach important concepts such as: taxes, budgeting/saving, banking, investing, and more.
Guest Speaker Series
Flex Finance hosted a variety of guest speaker series to facilitate "money talk" among students. Students were encouraged to ask questions to business professionals, which provided more insight into the finance world. Some of our guest speakers included: Louis Chan, Managing Director of PNB Paribas China, one of the largest banking groups in the world; Ivan Yu, Emory undergrad and Yale MBA, providing students with collegiate financial advice; and many more.

Only some of our guest speaker sessions were uploaded, as most were exclusively live due to privacy reasons. Thus, we encouraged students to join in order to listen in and ask questions at the end of our interview.

Additionally, all workshops lessons were uploaded onto our Youtube, granting the public full access to basic financial education.
Community Projects
Flex Finance Academy believes that application is the best form of retention. Thus, upon workshop and guest speaker completion, we hosted a community project for students to apply their learned skills. Students would help out local, low-income community members in financial assistance. Not only would this reinforce knowledge and lead to greater concept retainment, it would also make a positive impact on our community. For more details, view our previous projects below.
